Pracsie / Debt recovery
Outstanding accounts, recovered. The job no one in your practice wants to do.
Unpaid gap fees, rejected claims, NDIS invoices that never got paid. We work through your aged debtors list, recover what’s owed, and fix the processes that let it build up. Firmly, respectfully, and in your practice’s name.
It’s money you’ve already earned. Every month it sits there, it gets harder to collect.

01What we chase
Every kind of money your practice is owed.
Practice debt isn’t just patients who haven’t paid. A large share is usually claims that were rejected, never lodged, or lodged wrong. That’s often the fastest money to recover.
Patient accounts & gap fees
Unpaid invoices, out-of-pocket gaps, missed-appointment fees, and payment plans that stalled.
Rejected Medicare & DVA claims
Claims returned with errors, never resubmitted, or written off without anyone checking why.
NDIS invoices
Plan-managed, self-managed and agency-managed invoices that are overdue or were rejected.
Insurer & third-party claims
WorkCover, CTP, private health and corporate accounts, such as employer medicals, stuck waiting for payment.
02How it works
We reduce the pile, then stop it coming back.
Nothing is escalated without your say-so, and every contact is made in your practice’s name.
Review your aged debtors
We go through the report line by line and sort what’s recoverable, what’s a claim error, and what should be written off.
Fix the claim errors
We correct and resubmit rejected or unlodged claims first. It’s often the quickest money back.
Follow up patients, kindly
Reminders, letters, SMS and calls, with payment plans for people who need them. You’ll see these patients again, so we keep it respectful.
Escalate only with your OK
If an account still won’t resolve, you decide what happens next, whether that’s writing it off or referring it on.
Stop it building up
Payment at the point of care, clear fee policies, front-desk training and a monthly debtors report.
03Why practices hand it over
Because it never gets done in-house.
- Nobody wants the calls. Asking a patient for money is uncomfortable for reception, and impossible for the clinician.
- There’s never time. Debt follow-up always loses to the phone ringing and the waiting room filling.
- It needs billing know-how. Working out why a claim was rejected takes someone who understands Medicare, DVA and NDIS rules.
- It compounds. The older a debt is, the less likely it is to be paid. Starting now matters.
04Done properly
Firm, fair and compliant.
- We follow the ACCC and ASIC debt collection guideline: no pressure tactics, no harassment, no misleading statements.
- We handle patient information under the Privacy Act and NSW health privacy law, and only use what’s needed to recover the account.
- We work by phone, email, SMS and letter. We don’t make home or workplace visits.
- Patients in genuine hardship are offered payment plans, not pressure.

Make an enquiryWill chasing debts upset our patients?
Not the way we do it. Most overdue accounts are forgotten, not refused. We contact patients politely, in your practice’s name, and offer payment plans where they help. The goal is to get paid and keep the relationship.
Do you contact patients as Pracsie or as our practice?
As your practice. Patients deal with your practice name throughout, and you approve the wording of reminders and letters before anything goes out.
What about very old debts?
We’ll review them honestly. Some are still recoverable, some are claim errors that can be fixed, and some are better written off. You’ll get a clear recommendation for each.
Can you help with rejected Medicare or NDIS claims?
Yes. Correcting and resubmitting rejected claims is usually the first and fastest part of the work, and we fix the cause so they stop being rejected.
Do you take debts to court or use a collection agency?
Only if you decide to. We never escalate an account without your instruction. If you want to go further, we can help you refer it to a licensed collection agency or your lawyer.
